Fall 2020 Registration is OPEN
Fall 2020 Registration is OPEN.  BRYC Softball will be adhereing to all Federal, State, and Local COVID-19 guidelines.  Please read the following guidance and understand that registering your daughter for the Fall 2020 season indicates you and your daughter will comply fully with these guidelines, which includes the wearing of masks while playing and attending games and practice (with exception noted).

Please read the registration information below. If you have questions, please email our commissioner

Age Groups

BRYC Softball is for girls aged 5 - 18 years of age.  During registration, players will be grouped according to the age designations listed below, but can be moved up (not down) at the parents request (more to follow).  A player's age is based on their age on January 1 of the current year.  As an example, if a player turns 11 years old in February of 2019 then they are eligible to play in 10u for the 2019 season (Spring and Fall).  That same player would be moved up automatically to 12u in the Spring of 2020.  We recognize that some girls who have played before may be more advanced than those who are in their age group, and some 4 year olds are ready to play 8u.  We allow experienced girls to move up to the next level, and 4 year olds to start, with approval of the parent and the Commissioner.  If a player is ready for the next age level, a parent can make a request to the Commissioner to have their daughter moved up provided a previous coach agrees with the recommendation.  If new to the area/league, a request can be made to the Commissioner for an evaluation to assess the player's skills for that next level.  We do our very best to grant parent's/player's requests, but please understand that player safety is our primary concern.  The age groups levels for 2020 are:

If you want to move your daughter up an age group, make a note in "Special Requests" during registration that indicates you want them to be moved up and provide an explanation for doing so.  It would also be helpful if you sent the Commissioner an email ( noting the request.  It seems redundant, but it helps to 1) capture the request in writing and 2) address these requests as they come in to make the registration process more efficient.

Registration fees for 2020:

BRYC Player Registration Scholarships

For those families in need of support, BRYC Softball offers scholarship opportunites that help to significantly defray most of the cost of player registration.  If you would like more information about scholarship opportunities, please select one of the forms below to review the criteria for scholarship approval outlined on page 1 of the form.  If you qualify, we ask that you complete and sign the scholarship form and send it with a copy of the document to serve as proof you qualify (see the list on top of page 1 of the scholarship form) to the BRYC Commissionser at  You will also mail a $25 check with the original copy of the scholarship form to BRYC Softball, P.O. 10333, Burke, VA 22009.  Once all the paperwork has been received (to include the check for $25) the player will be added to a team roster and begin the season.

Player Assignments

Requests to play with friends or with a specific coach will be honored to the best of our ability with priority given to registrations received first.  There are no guarantees that we can satisfy these requests in every instance.  Players not requesting specific coaches or teams in the will be placed on teams by the Commissioner.

Also, we may need to shut down registration early if we fill up the available teams. The number of teams that we carry is based on the number of volunteers for coaches. For this reason, we sometimes have to stop registration so that the teams do not get overfilled with players. If any parent wants to coach, that opens up opportunities for more girls to play and for friends to play together. We will work to help any new coach that enters the league, and will work to assign players with parents who also offer to help coach.

Refund Policy

Refunds less $15 for the County User Fee and BRYC Administration processing fee will be granted up to 2 weeks following the start of the season. For those participating in preseason clinics, we retain $25 to cover the County User Fee, BRYC Administration processing fee, and field fee. Refund requests must be made in writing or by email.

Virginia Freedom of Information Act

Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services (CRS) requires all athletic organizations that use County fields to submit rosters of registered players.  The rosters identify the names, ages, and addresses of participants.  Once CRS receives this information, it becomes a public record and as such may be released under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) if someone requests it.  CRS can only withhold release of information about participants under 18 years old if the parents or guardians have affirmatively requested that this information not be released.  We have amended our registration forms to provide parents and guardians the opportunity to indicate that they do not allow CRS to release this information under the Virginia FOIA.  If you do not want the information about your child to be released under a FOIA request, you must check the box on the application form to show this. (See the CRS letter on this topic.)

Fall 2020 Registration

Are you a High School softball player?

According to BRYC Softball rules, girls who play on their school's varsity softball team are not eligible to play club softball during the spring varsity season. Varsity players can play in the fall, and Junior Varsity players are eligible to play with BRYC Softball during both the spring and fall seasons. This is an excellent way for JV players to sharpen their softball skills.
